None of this data is transmitted to our servers. It is stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app or use the Delete Data function.
If you grant location permission, we use your approximate GPS coordinates solely to detect your timezone for accurate astrological calculations. We do not store, log, or transmit your GPS coordinates to any server. If you deny location permission, we use your device's system timezone instead — no GPS data is accessed.
When you generate baby names, the following data is sent to Groq's API servers (located in the United States) to generate name suggestions:
This data contains no information that directly identifies you personally (no name, email, IP address or device ID is sent). Groq processes this data under their own privacy policy at groq.com/privacy-policy. We have selected Groq as a processor that maintains appropriate data protection standards.
When you type a city name in the birth location field, your search query is sent to Nominatim (operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, based in the United Kingdom) at nominatim.openstreetmap.org to provide city name autocomplete suggestions. If you purchase a premium subscription, RevenueCat processes the transaction on our behalf. RevenueCat may collect: your device identifier, purchase history, and subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card details. RevenueCat's privacy policy applies: revenuecat.com/privacy.
The app is built on Expo (React Native). Expo may collect standard crash reports and diagnostic information to ensure app stability. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you. Expo's privacy policy: expo.dev/privacy.
Cosmonym uses AI (via the Groq API) to generate baby name suggestions based on your inputs. This constitutes automated processing. The names generated are suggestions only — no automated decision is made that significantly affects your legal rights or interests. You are free to disregard any suggestions. We disclose this in accordance with the Australian Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 automated decision-making transparency requirements (effective December 2026).
The AI does not make decisions about you as a person. It generates creative content (name suggestions) based on astrological and cultural parameters you provide.
All astrological information, birth chart analysis, and name compatibility assessments provided by Cosmonym are generated for entertainment and creative inspiration purposes only. They do not constitute professional advice of any kind. Cosmonym makes no representation that astrological information is scientifically accurate, factually correct, or suitable for decision-making regarding child naming or any other matter. You use this information entirely at your own discretion.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Cosmonym. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, you may only use the App with verifiable parental consent.
Cosmonym does not require you to create an account. All your data (favourites, preferences) is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device. We are not liable for any loss of data resulting from device loss, damage, or deletion.

The App, including its design, code, branding, and content (excluding user-generated inputs), is owned by DarkMattrLabs and protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
AI-generated name suggestions produced in response to your inputs are provided for your personal use. We do not claim ownership over names generated for you, nor do we warrant that any generated name is free from trademark, copyright, or other third-party rights.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian consumer law:
Australian Consumer Law: Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DarkMattrLabs and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
The App uses third-party services including Groq (AI), RevenueCat (payments), and Expo (platform). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of third-party services.

Your continued use of the App after changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with changes, you should stop using the App and cancel any subscription.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 3 (Disclaimer), 8 (Intellectual Property), 9 (Limitation of Liability), 10 (Indemnification), and 15 (Governing Law) survive termination.
The App is distributed through Google Play. These Terms are between you and DarkMattrLabs only — Google is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support or handle claims related to the App.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
